She attributes her success to her determination and to the support she receives from her family, friends and colleagues.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after growing up with a close friend who was a disabled as a child.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Hefti wrote a book entitled 'A Journey to a Hand-Over-Hand Guide of Disabilities,' a book of practical ways to work with different syndromes and disabilities. She also created a guide book entitled 'A Step to Sensory Integration' and was involved in creating a film on consumer sensitivity for staff trainings entitled 'Wake Up Call.'

Ms. Hefti is fluent in German and English, speaks conversational Italian, and has some knowledge of French. After moving to the United States, she still remains close to her family overseas as well as in the United States.

As she grew older she began to expand her horizons by volunteering at a school for disabled children, and gradually decided to work with within this profession. This was partially due to her own fascination with their desire to be seen the same as other children and not disabled, and partially because she wanted to help. From there she trained as a nurse in the United Kingdom and spent half of her time working in different settings with children and adults with a wide range of disabilities. The experiences she gained lead her to seek a position in the United States where she could do doing similar work.
